The BCCA Obedience and Rally Medallion Program was initiated in 2014 and was the brainchild of Laurie Lo. It was her vision to provide an award for those individuals with the highest combined score for the legs necessary to earn a regular title in obedience and/or rally (criteria listed below). Laurie designed both medallions and solicited donations to get the program going, personally providing most of the funding. The medallions are presented at the national specialty each year.
An Obedience Medallion is awarded to the top scoring Bearded Collie completing a regular obedience title (CD, CDX and UD) during the preceding year. Medallions are given for titles earned out of the A & B classes. If a dog earns a title out of both the A and B classes, the class in which the third leg is earned, is considered the class competed in. A dog is eligible for the medallion only for the year when it completes its title. The top scoring bearded collie at each level is the dog with the most accumulated points. Qualifying scores toward a title are added together.
A Rally Medallion is awarded to the top scoring Bearded Collie completing a rally title (RN, RA, RE, RM) during the preceding year. Medallions are given for titles earned out of the A & B classes. If a dog earns a title out of both the A and B classes, the class in which the third leg is earned, is considered the class competed in. A dog is eligible for the medallion only for the year when it completes its title. The top scoring bearded collie at each level is the dog with the most accumulated points. Qualifying scores toward a title are added together. Combined qualifying AKC scores (points) toward a title.
